چکیده
The performances of new polymeric materials with excellent optical properties and good machinability, have led the biomedical diagnostics industry to develop cheap disposable biosensor platforms, appropriate for point of care applications. Zeonor, a type of cycloolefin polymers (COP) is one such polymer that presents an excellent platform for biosensor chips. These polymer substrates have to be modified to have suitable physicochemical properties for immobilizing proteins. In this work, we have demonstrated the amine functionalisation of COP substrates, by Plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition (PECVD), through codeposition of ethylene diamine and 3aminopropyltriethoxysilane precursors, for building chemistries on the plastic chip. The elemental composition, adhesion, ageing and reactivity of the plasma polymerized film were examined. The Si-O functionality present in amino silane contributed for a good interfacial adhesion of the coating to COP substrates and also acted as a network building layer for plasma polymerization. Wet chemical modification was then carried out on the

Background and Objectives: Detection of the biomarkers is one of the effective methods for diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is currently the best biomarker available for controlling and detecting this cancer. The purpose of the current study was to design an electrochemical aptamer-based biosensor (electrochemical aptasensor) to measure...
متن کاملAn Alkaline Phosphatase Lacking Wheat Germ Agglutinin Binding Sites Useful Enzyme for Lectin Assays with Comparable Activity to the Calf Enzyme
Despite the availability of various alkaline phosphatase (ALP) isoenzymes, the calf enzyme is being used in current enzyme assays as the detector enzyme. The glycosylation pattern of this enzyme makes it a suitable ligand for binding to wheat germ agglutinin lectin (WGA). As a result of this property, the enzyme can not be used as a conjugate with this lectin, and the calf enzyme conjugates can...
متن کاملIncreasing the detection speed of an all-electronic real-time biosensor.
Biosensor response time, which depends sensitively on the transport of biomolecules to the sensor surface, is a critical concern for future biosensor applications. We have fabricated carbon nanotube field-effect transistor biosensors and quantified protein binding rates onto these nanoelectronic sensors. Using this experimental platform we test the effectiveness of a protein repellent coating d...
متن کاملBacillus Amyloliquefaciens Alpha-amylase Inhibition by Organic Solvents: A Study on Methanol, Ethanol and Propanol
Alpha-amylase is widely used as an industrial enzyme, and a therapeutic target for which inhibitors are designed. Organic solvents are used to dissolve various compounds that would be studied as moderators of alpha-amylases, but they could themselves affect enzyme activity and stability. Methanol, ethanol and propanol are simple alcohols that may be commonly used to this end, and their effect h...
